Which is the norm in your family during the summer for wearing sandals or going barefoot in your backyard?

BarryF asked:

a. both girls and boys wear sandals in the backyard
b. girls wear sandals but boys usually go barefoot
c. boys wear sandals but girls usually go barefoot
d. both usually go barefoot equally

My aunt always told me that girls should wear shoes and boys should go barefoot during summer, but I am wondering if that is old advice now and times have changed. What does your family do?

I want to travel abroad this summer, and be able to practice my French, without having to take strict courses. I also want some freedom to explore cities, and go out at night. Any ideas? Or is this surreal…?

How do I file taxes when I have worked somewhere other than my home state during the summer?

maddicat2006 asked:

I live in Texas and over the summer I lived and worked (for 2 months) in Arizona. I’m not sure how to file my taxes since my W-2’s will be from two different states. Texas does not have state taxes, only federal. Can I put my Arizona W-2 on my Federal 1040? Or do I need to file this separately with the state (if so how should I do this?)? If it makes any difference I probably only made around $1700 while working in Arizona.

What kinds of clothing are appropriate to wear in Shanghai in the summer?

Lee L asked:

I know it will be hot, but also that in China, women dress more conservatively than in America. For example, no short shorts, halter tops etc. (I come from California where that is normal summer wear). Has anyone been in Shanghai in the summer and know what is appropriate to wear, yet will still allow me to keep cool?

What can I do this summer that would be fun and meaningful?

yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo asked:

I am looking for something to do this summer. I am a sophomore at on of the top colleges with a strong academic background. My dream would be to spend the summer in a foreign country. I don’t want to do any study abroad.

Anyone have any ideas? As far as finances go I just don’t want to lose any money, breaking even is fine.

What classes should I take in the summer?

SarahR asked:

Should I take a couple of general ed classes to get them out of the way or should I take some pre-nursing courses like microbiology, A&P I&II, or pathophysiology to get ahead? I know that pre-nursing courses take a lot of time, especially in the summer but I don’t do anything at all in the summer besides sleep and at the end of the summer I feel like it was just a waste. What do you think?

How can I keep my aquarium cool in the summer?

newtomn01 asked:

I have a 30 gallon aquarium with a Bio-Wheel type filter rated for 50 g. I live on the fourth floor in my apartment building and the aquarium sits on the floor. I take care of a large Orange Orada and a large Black Moor. I want to reduce my electric consumption so I am trying to avoid running the air conditioner as much as possible. The problem is that when outside temps are in the 80’s and 90’s (I live in Minneapolis, MN) the room temp. although lower than the outside temp is still high. I have 2 of those sticker type thermometers on the tank and I have seen the temp range from 70-84 degrees. I would like the tank to be in the low to mid 70’s. Any ideas on how I can keep the temp down on these hot summer days??? I keep the hood light off all day and at this time I have a small fan blowing across the water surface to cool by evaporation. My only other idea is to get some of those reusable ice packs, put them in a ziplock bag and float 1 or 2 in the water. Thank You!!!!!!

How can I make my summer more productive if I’m thinking about going into business/stocks?

bioman asked:

I’m a junior in high school and I’m trying to build my college app. Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital but this summer I want to do something different. I’ve been thinking about going into something that has to do with business or the stockmarket, but I’m not sure where I should start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How flexible are companies with summer work hours for first jobs?

Smart Blonde asked:

My parents want me to get a job this summer, and I’m 15, almost 16. I know I need to get one, and I wouldn’t mind working because I’m paying for half my Greece trip, but there are a lot of things that I want to do or am going to do this summer…and it just feels like I won’t be able to do anything cuz of my job (yes, I know that’s life, but…). =P

How flexible would they be? What would be the maximum I could miss? Any information would be greatly appreciated…thanks ^_^
