In New Jersey at least. One of my teacher told me last year that schools cannot legally grade summer work until at least a week of school has passed. The teacher says that schools can’t legally test material that was not taught to us students.

I believe in keeping children minds busy during the summer. At least a half hour or so, doing something constructive than just playing or being bored. Its said that if they at least read 15-20 minutes a day, it would give them the ability to retain what they have learned the school year. That way they don’t struggle going back to school.
