I may be volunteering at a hospital during the summer?

littlezz asked:

I am considering volunteering at a local hospital during the summer, but I want to major/get a job in medicine.
I think of volunteering at a hospital more as a “doctor” kind of volunteering, rather than something like a pharmacist.
Would volunteering at a pharmacy look better on my resume instead, because it is more medicine orientated?
Or do colleges not mind?
Thanks.

  1. The hospital is going to control where it lets people volunteer. You may not get to work in your desired area but I am pretty sure anykind of volunteer work would look good on a college app or job resume.

  2. Depends on what you want to do. If you intend to be a physician, nurse, technician, or any position that requires interaction with patients, it makes sense to be on the floor. If you want to be a pharmacist, go volunteer in the pharmacy.

  3. the hospital is going to put you where they need you. you most likely wont choose where you go.
