Do you have to pay child support during the summer when your college aged child is out of school?

   Child support ends at age 18 right? At least here in NC. I guess there are a couple states that require it but only for college expenses.

   I wouldn’t think so. I’m sure you can check the support order and it will say if you still have to pay support during vacations for someone over 18.

   I would imagine so. Child support is to support the child, food, accommodation, medical needs etc., not just to pay for education. Dunno how it works over in the US but in Aus, you have to keep on paying until the child is legal age when the law says you stop.

   Yes you do. Child support means exactly what it says. The child needs support for food, medical, health, etc. If a child attends college, you must continue with child support, even if it is the summer. Contact your lawyer or NJ government agency such as# to confirm.

   I dont’ understand why you have to pay support for and ADULT anyway?

   as long as you child is in school you have to pay child support and yes you half to pay in the summer, my sister is 18 teen and in trade school and he has to pay child support.

   LEGALLY speaking: depends on the state where SHE lives – the laws there. MORALLY: ummmmmm……why wouldn’t you WANT to continue to support your CHILD?

   yes you do, as long as theyre enrolled to go back.,…until they are whatever age it says on your court papers. it never takes a break.

    It depends on the support order. Being in school full time includes a summer break though, so I doubt child support would stop needing to be paid.

    Why is he still paying child support if she’s in college. NJ cuts off at age 18.

    If your order is until a certain age, that is when it ends. If your order is until the child is out of school, then it is until they leave college, but is not JUST for the time when on campus. Children still eat and wear clothes, as well as use electricity, and gas – if they drive – when not on campus, and more so usually.

    It depends on what’s in your divorce decree and what you and your ex decided on. My parents said 18 or graduates high school, which ever comes last.
